Epson making a full-scale entry into mobile printing

Epson

When you’re on the go for business travelling from client to client, the last thing you want to do is lug around a huge printer or ask everyone you visit if you can hop on their network to print off important documents. Epson is now going to make your life easier with the introduction of the PX-S05 mobile printer.

In late June 2014, Epson previewed the PX-S05, an inkjet printer that is the company’s smallest and lightest A4-size machine to date. Measuring just 12 x 6 x 2 (inches), the printer is slim enough to fit in your laptop or carry-on luggage and won’t weigh you down – it’s less than 4lbs.

It’s got a huge battery life, able to print up to 50 pages in colour and 100 pages in black and white and can be charged via USB connected to your computer or by a mobile battery.  The PX-S05 can print on any size paper from business-card to A4 in resolutions up to 5760×1440 DPI. The machine can reportedly print up to 4 pages per minute in colour and 7 in black and white using the company’s pigment ink. Compatibility with this device is huge, despite its small size: the PX-S05 supports Epson Connect & Epson iPrint, as well as Google Cloud print, meaning you’ll be able to print in a hurry from your Android or Apple smartphone and tablets. The printer also works with Windows XP or newer as well as Apple Mac OS 10.6.8 forward, so you’ll have no trouble connecting your laptop. Of course, the machine is Wi-Fi ready, freeing you from having to carry additional cables with you while on the go.

The machine has been built to withstand a lot of travel and use. Components have been downsized to make the printer as small as possible and reduced its weight by using aluminum frame material while remaining strong and durable throughout use. Its estimated lifespan is 15,000 pages, so you can be assured that it won’t quit on you anytime soon.

The company has said that the PX-S05 will be available in Japan in September 2014, but has not announced a North American release date. As an authorized Epson dealer, Brock Office Automation will be able to get you one as soon as they are available over here!
