Keep your printer clean

Reduce the possibility of paper jams

 Every time that your printer jams you run the risk that another element of the printer could break or damage. There are many reasons why your paper may jam but there are a few rules that you can follow to reduce regular occurrence:

  • don’t fan the paper before loading it into the printer
  • use high quality paper or the type of paper recommended by your printers manufacturer
  • don’t use used or bent paper

Monitor paper rollers and cartridges

The paper rollers need to be cleaned every once in a while to prevent paper jams and if they are on their last leg it is best to replace them. If you are noticing a larger than normal number of paper jams occuring it is probably because your rollers have warn out and need to be replaced. Make sure your boxes of paper as well as your printer are stored and located in a temperature controlled environment.
