Keeping your printer clean

Though it may not seem like it, spring should be right around the corner. Get a head start on your spring cleaning and shake off the winter dreariness. Start your spring cleaning in the office with your multifunctional printer. Keeping your printer clean can help to boost productivity in your office. We here at Brock Office Automation have put together a short walk through to keeping your printer clean and working optimally.

Dealing with poor quality prints and copies

Printers should be routinely cleaned in order to work properly. Nothing is as frustrating as printing an important document to find lines or faded areas. Most of the time, common issues with office equipment, can be easily solved. Cleaning the printer can improve the multifunctional printer’s performance and give a boost of productivity to your office. A dusty printer can affect print quality, which can ultimately waste your company’s ink.

Cleaning your MFP

Turn your printer off before you attempt any cleaning. Also consult your printer’s manual for proper cleaning techniques. If you’re unsure, contact your dealer and they will let you know what is okay to use.

  1. Wipe down the exterior of your MFP with a dry, lint-free cloth.
  2. Remove trays to clean the interior. Be careful to avoid physical contact with any circuits.
  3. Use an air can to spray around the printer and eliminate any dust. A build up of dust can cause poor quality prints.
  4. Gently clean the glass tray on the copier with a soft cloth sprayed with Windex.
  5. Most multifunctional printers will have a self-cleaning function to clean print heads.

Keeping your equipment in working order

Routinely cleaning your MFP can help prevent issues such as poor quality prints or annoying lines. By eliminating these issues, you’ll effectively boost productivity in the work place by limiting the amount of interruptions in your work flow.
