Today we’re talking Common Printer Problems: Wi-Fi Printing

Everything is going wireless, including printing. It is becoming much more common for wireless connections to workplace devices, allowing printing from laptops, desktops and even mobile devices without plugging in. But what do you do when that’s not working?

Can’t print from your mobile device?

Many new wi-fi printers support iOS and Android devices, allowing you to print directly from you smartphones and tablets fairly easily. Most major printer brands support most devices, but it may be necessary to download a third-party app to get a wider range of printers.

Even non-wi-fi printers can support printing from a mobile device provided your network has a wireless access point. In this case, you are required to install a utility on a networked computer. Cloud-based printing services also work across multiple platforms and device types with non-wi-fi printers, but your solution is limited to a select number of apps.

Wi-Fi printing taking too long?

If you are experiencing long wait times when it comes to printingwirelessly, you make need to place your printer closer to your router to reduce printing time. But there are other ways to improve yourwi-fi performance and speed up your printing without rethinking the placement of your equipment. Ensure your router speed is adequate for your office size and that the firmware is updated to the newest version. If you are finding that your wireless signal is severely suffering, add a wireless extended or repeater to increase speed and improve performance.
