Unfortunately, when you’re working with multifunctional printers, scanners, copiers and office automation equipment, there are bound to be malfunctions every now and then. Today we’re talking Common Printer Problems: Poor Print Quality

Print quality can vary among printers, but when you have invested a sizable portion of your office budget in a multifunctional printer that is supposed to make your life easier, poor print quality is unacceptable. If you’ve noticed a sudden declin in your print quality, there a few things you can try to bring it back up to your standards.

Print settings

The first thing to examine are print settings. Printers offer options in the level of print quality, and while draft quality is acceptable for printing off a quick email for your own records, it just won’t do for presentation to clients or manager. A higher quality mode will slow down your printer but will up the quality of your print job,

Check your toner cartridge

If you are working with a laser printer, your toner cartridge may be the culprit. Toner settlers over time, so removing the cartridge and giving it a few quick shakes will solve your problem for the time being. If your toner is low you may need to replace the cartridge completely.

Inkjet issues

If you are working with an inkjet printer, the nozzles and print heads require attention. Nozzles need cleaning print heads need alignment, which can call be run from your printer’s maintenance menu. If that doesn’t do the trick, you may need to replace you ink cartridges (watch for a low-ink warning).

When in doubt, call for service

Sometimes, the issue is something you can’t fix on your own so don’t be afraid to call your service department. The last thing you want to do is fiddle with your machine and make the problem worse. Your technicians know your machine inside and out and will gladly solve your dilemma.
